Everyone except for ol’ lazy bones herself (me, sorry Ern) was up early this morning for the quick trip back to the ferry. Erin is headed back home to get herself ready for the work week (someone’s gotta keep the country running) & we are preparing for the next stage of our journey, heading further north tomorrow.
So today was a quieter day. We adventured to a Tim Hortons for lunch, not knowing what we’d be getting. It is Canada’s largest restaurant chain so we felt it behoved us to give it a go. As fast food goes, we liked it, but for me it was mainly so I’d not be going to the next place with an empty stomach - method in my madness and all that.
There was a brochure for a local distillery in our hotel - beer & whisky. Tony likes beer, I like whisky a plan was hatched. Sadly it was too early in the day for the beer-lover but not for the ever intrepid whisky drinker, 5 o’clock somewhere, right? Verdict …Canadian whisky is delicious.
We found a pretty lake to look at, looked exactly like the summer camp images we see on our tellies.
I did need to have a bit of a lie down after though, & had a surprisingly good nap. So all in all today was not your typical tourism day but a-okay in my book.
While we were having dinner the bridge part of the road rather alarmingly did this …
Very easy to spot the tourists, none of the locals missed a single beat. Someone wanted to go ‘for a walk to digest dinner’ out onto that bridge (after it was horizontal again) in the freezing gale force wind, for which the girls were not properly attired, to take a photo. We grizzled and groaned but as always it was a good idea bc pretty evening sun to end this post.
Hahaha that photo of you and the whiskey is co cute
