Sydney to Dubai

Greater love hath no child than to drive her olds to the airport for a 6am flight, which means leaving home at 3:45am (i.e. A 3:30 am wake up call).

Whilst this is an unattractive proposition for anyone there is an upside for the travellers, so here's my first 'three things' post for this trip ...

Three things a flight at ugly o'clock is good for
1. no queues: traffic, check-in, or security
2. cheap as chips tickets
AND
3. Half empty plane (because who in their right mind flies at that hour?) so we three seats each = so flat bed without the cost of Business tickets ... winners!

We got some good sleep, watched movies and ate amazingly delicious great food (airplane food, IKR?!) really this long haul flying gig is getting better and better!

Coming into land at Dubai gave us a glimpse of the terrain. That's one of the best things about travelling isn't it ... seeing the amazing for the first time.

Thankyou Dubai airport,  I do love me some shiny sparkly

we retrieved our checked luggage (always a plus) and departed the airport into a rather startling 40degree heat, yikes! No not Wendy-weather this trip. To stave off jet-lag we went for a walk after checking in at the hotel, stay upright ...  stay awake. We were a rather hot sticky block from Emirates Mall which is big enough to to include a downhill snow ski park ... enough said.

We stayed awake as long as we could. We'll venture in to see Burj Khalifa tomorrow and adventure out to the desert for camel riding and dinner, all in a days (holiday) work, just wondering though if it's 40 in the city what's it going tone like in a tent in the desert - pretty hard to AC that situation.
