I hope Monica doesn't mind me showing you her backyard ;)
As you know we like to travel in the northern winter to escape the antipodean heat however, being the ragers that we are, this year we're throwing caution to the wind and travelling in the northern Autumn! This was not entirely successful in Dubai, where the memo about Autumn weather spontaneously combusted on arrival so they're just ignoring the change of season thing and sticking with summer. It has paid off in Sweden though, because we can see places normally not available in winter.
Over the years and we've shared stories about summer family holiday bliss. Our stories revolve around sand, sun and surf and we shown off Wooli to many a travelling Swede. Their stories are all about water sports and forest foraging, and we're on our way to see Monica's summer house with some sights along the way.
stop 1. Orebro
is a pretty town with a medieval castle, and the pretty waterway parks that seem to be a signature of Swedish towns in this part of the country.
There are a lot more pictures of this beautiful place but Denis (my Nikon D60) and I had a difference of opinion about what focused means. As you can see the photo above is a bit blurry ... well I can't tell that it's blurry looking through the view finder (which drives me nuts btw) so Denis is in charge of the focusing thing and he was off his game yesterday. This led to a fair bit of Wendy-unhappiness when reviewing the photos of the day and a total abandoning poor AllansAbroad for the evening.
stop 2. Karlstad
a city on, Sweden's longest river Klaralven, and is associated with sunshine and it lived up to its name on a glorious afternoon we spent wondering around this pretty city
this lady is a waitress, Eva Lisa Holtz, (1739 - 1818) so famous for her sunny disposition that she got the nickname of the sun of Karlstad and her own statue - wow that's positivity-power! my own personal optiomist should have his own statue IMHO but he contented himself with sharing Eva Lisa's glory
we stayed the night here, Clarion Collection hotel Balin.
looks like a prison, right? yep it was just that in the 1800s and it has a museum in the basement
not our room ;)
I let him out, promise.
Nothing highlights your nerdery more than using the word 'antipodean' and an ironic 'rager' in the same sentence.
ReplyDelete...and then you had a fight with Denis which just clinched it lol
Could you imagine a statue of M? All the Allans would have WAY too much fun. All the photos, all the posing. Lots of fun statue outfits.
What did M do to get imprisoned?
