Day 19 Kalvehave, Denmark

The view from the window this morning

Every now and then we have to stop and remind ourselves that we are actually on holidays. Living at the end of the world, as we Aussies do, tends to create a don’t-waste-a-minute-must-see-everything focus when we travel to Northern hemisphere.

This is, of course, necessary. There is a lot to see here; history, scenery, culture, art (not to mention cake and coffee), so you do have to pack in as much as you can. However, getting back to my first point, all the seeing and doing should add to, rather than distract from, the idea of holiday.

This is a rather long-winded way of saying we had a lazy day because, for the next couple of weeks, we’re in our holiday comfort-zone. Staying for junks of time in timeshare accommodation, where we can spread out, cook our own meals, do laundry. We can do day trips out to the aforementioned history, scenery, culture, art, coffee and cake or just take it easy. This is where we're staying...

Today we slept in, caught up on the washing (we have nothing left that has not been worn, nothing). We went for a walk to see what we could see at this sea-side resort. The locals must think we’re crazy, we’re the only ones here. Clearly this is where everyone holidays in summer.

the specks of white in the water are little junks of ice

pretty, no?

And we went for a drive in the snow, because we could. See down the bottom? That's the layer of snow that settled on the car today.
