day 13 Hurtigruten

We had a quiet day today packing and eating cake lunch before we bid farewell to the lovely Tromso.

In another first for us we're heading out of Tromso on a cruise ship - the Hurtigruten line, YAY!

goodbye Tromso

this is going to be fun
~

it's a modern ship (built in 2003) but the decor is very 1920s, I like it.

this is a heated pool but it's pretty cold on deck!

Whenever the crew spot the nothern lights there's a PA announcement. The first such announcement produced an hysterically funny response; picture shoppers at a sale when the 90% off red-light special beacon ignites. Desparate people run helter skelter all saying "what deck was that?" sure that any momentary hesitation would mean missing the spectacular. The funny thing was that a lot of them weren't actually ready when they got there, so many were standing around me saying "how did you do that?" while I'm hand-holding my camera with the shutter open for 25 seconds (which is a really long time to stand still). I can be smug only because Thor showed me what to do on our snow mobile night & MGM suggested at dinner tonight that it'd be good to practice with the camera settings when there was no time pressure.

You need to loo closely but you can see those elusive Northern lights :)
