Today is a travelling day and an in-between travelling day at that. We're heading to Russia in stages. stage one: return to Tuzla for just one night. stage two: fly to Moscow the next day, I'm amazed as I write those words - can I be this lucky to be able to see these places and have these experiences?!
So we bid a fond farewell to our little kitty companion,
the delights of Göreme & the fascinating Cave hotel early in the moring
.
because even though it's only a one hour flight to Tuzla, you have to be at the airport early - even earlier than usual atm. Also you need to allow oh-no-what-do-we-do-now-time for things that inevitably go wrong, and oh-no-look-at-that-traffic-time, then there's getting through security time. Understandably, and somewhat comfortingly, security is heightened here right now. Thorough security equals extra long queues, I have no problem with thoroughness in this particular area.
When we arrived in Istanbul we noticed extra security on the road near the hotel, our taxi was stopped and our passports checked, actually I'm surprised this is the first time we've been asked for ID in the street. We're staying at the Radisson Blu near the airport and where we stored some of our luggage before going to Göreme, so the evening was mostly about packing for our flight to Moscow tomorrow.
We did get to do all that in the Presidential suite though - what an amazing upgrade!
the foyer is bigger than some hotel rooms
It's own Turkish bath and sauna took up one whole wing
floor to ceiling mini bar
no need to find a terrace for beer o'clock
oh and did I mention room-service dinner?
The Turkey leg (of our trip) is done and was delicious.
See you in Moscow!
