the view from my room window this morning
the view from the breakfast-room window this morning
Today we slept late (well some of us did)
We ate well (again some of us did)
That's french toast, nutella and strawberries Tony's having for breakfast. Not that I'm judging, I had great big gobs of fresh honeycomb.
the girls went into town (not for the scenery)
I'll freely admit I'm not a great shopper, and that I'm clumsy. Today the two came together when I swiped a standard lamp stand (multiple glass lamp shades) with my back pack. Shocked I spun around and hit, with the back pack, another standard lamp stand (many more glass lamp shades) which created a spectacularly loud domino effect and brought the shop assistant in an instant. I'm looking at the debris on the ground doing the maths in my head cha-ching, cha-ching, cha-ching whilst apologising profusely. Amazingly no breakage but you know if that happened in Oz I'd be buying that carnage. The shop assistant was most solicitous for my concern, telling me "it's okay, no harm done while he was cleaning up the mess.
and then brought be chocolate to make sure I was not worrying.
Yes. I did some shopping in this shop.
We also got entire history of Turkish rugs, from caveman to present day, from a salesman who wasn't trying to sell us anything. He gave us a cup of apple tea (which is to die for) just to show hospitality, and then chatted to us to pass the time. As I've mentioned tourists are staying away. It's so sad to see the impact events beyond their control are having on everyday life. We've met so many lovely, kind generous people here.
We were back in time for 5pm drinks on the terrace.
Followed by dinner and the Kelebek restaurant (because it was so good we wanted to go back), and an early night because tomorrow we leave this lovely oasis.
