Istanbul to Göreme

The view from the window this morning, flying from Istanbul to our next destination, Göreme, a town in Cappadocia known for it's unique landscape and "fairy chimneys".

It was another pre-dawn start to get the airport thing happening but worth it because it meant we had the whole day to set up in this amazing hotel and orient ourselves to the town.

That, dear friends is the library terrace. There many are places for cozy relaxing

the view from one such cozy place

Some of the rooms are in the fairy chimneys, attractive to the non-claustrophobic

but our room is bright and airy, spacious and quirky - thanks to some thoughtful booking by our travelling companions

the fire in our room was all ready for us, sadly it's just not cold enough to light it.

After settling into our rooms we wandered down into town amazed at the view on the way

we had the best pide, pizza and gozleme of our lives for lunch

and then went shopping, as you do ...

here is one of those cosy places I mentioned, just right for a few beers

a couple of G & Ts

and soaking in the view as the sun set

The hotel has a restaurant which is just gorgeous and we got the table right by the fire

When we returned to the room, weary after a long and delightfully surprising day, we found we had a guest, actually I think we might be guests in her room.
