Grundlsee
The view from the window this morning
After spending an embarrassing amount of time cuddled up in the doona just watching the snow falling outside my window – truly it is intoxicating – MGM persuaded me to get moving. We weren’t going far just to Bad Aussee for a walk around and one last visit to the cafe.
This little river accompanies us on the way into Bad Aussee, the road weaves back and forth over adorable little bridges. Everywhere I look there is a photo just begging to be taken.
There is a walking path along the river from Grundlsee to Bad Aussee which we really must do one time.
We meet the river in town almost at every turn.
We visited the churches imagine worshipping here every Sunday.
As you can see one of the chapels is shabby chic – not intentionally I’m sure, I’m just sayin’ gorgeous.
One thing we can’t work out is what the Austrians do for lunch. We couldn’t find a cafe to get a sandwich, we could find plenty that had good coffee (judging by the smell) and gishy cake (all on enticingly display behind glass); we could find restaurants that did meals (not that anyone was interested in serving us) – but no cafes like we have at home, lining the High st selling lunch that we’d recognise as lunch.
We gave up and bought some chicken (we’re both missing chicken) to cook up for toasted sangas. We did call into our fav cafe where I’m ashamed to say we are recognised now and greeted like old friends. I had cake – the lady is so nice ‘what will you try today’ how could I disappoint her but MGM just had coffee.
We came back with full tummies (well I did at least) and spent the rest of the day reading and relaxing – I do love being on holidays.
last word(less)
I love watching your morning window photos - that poor train is getting more and more submerged.
ReplyDeleteAnd Grundlsee is just gorgeous - like a fairy tale village.
