It seems to me that Japan is just the place to be right now, don’t you think? Go ahead, if you are so inclined, ask around & I bet you will find you know someone amongst your close friends or rellies who has just come back/has a trip booked/knows someone travelling there right now.
We do. Our travel buddies Wendy & Tony are there, doing a very different type of tour to us. Our Godson & his wife are there, very bravely travelling with their one year old son. And, because we are extremely hip & happenin' trendy travellers, next week we will be heading off to see the glorious autumn colours, some temples, mountains, big cities, very fast trains & a few million people doing the same thing, in what will be a first for us - a bus trip holiday.

So this will not be a make it up as you go along, seat of your pants trip this time my friends - nope, this is going to be highly organised know where you’re staying every single night / what you’re seeing every single day, total relaxation stuff! We're thinking cruise-adjacent, you know with wheels instead of water. What a different sort of adventure this will be & best of all we’re going with life-long (experienced & going to teach us how to do it bus travellers) friends who are, like us, celebrating 40 years of marriage. We’ve celebrated & commiserated & journeyed together with these friends, Sandy & Geoff, through teenage angst, courtship, engagements, marriages (our own & our kids), pregnancies & births (our own & our kids) for many happy & blessed-to-be-doing-it-all-together decades. We always celebrate the zero anniversary with a trip away and this year being the big 4-0 we’re splurging with an OS trip.
That’s what the ‘Ruby’ thing is all about. It's not just the colours of the countryside ...

Allans abroad back up and running!
